Why FromAtoSHE®
As humans, our needs, and unique abilities may evolve, but as women our interest in fashion, home, beauty, etc., doesn't necessarily wane. Why compromise on joy, we say?! So welcome to FromAtoSHE.
Did you know that 25% of us can expect to be out of work for a least a year because of a disabling condition before we reach retirement age? Or that at any given time 5% of adults in the workplace are experiencing a short-term disability (six months or less) due to illness, injury, or pregnancy?
The Well-Lived Life
I'm Shannon 🙋🏼♀️. My career has primarily been within the consumer technology industry; most notably at online shopping search companies. This work afforded me the chance to be an ‘online shopping expert’ and share tips, tricks, and trend data related to fashion and overall retail.
Today, this has evolved to advocating as a consultant and writer for data privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible artificial intelligence.
What does that have to do with women, lifestyle, and different abilities?
Well, the more I focus on technology, the more I think about what it means to be human. While I often focus on the challenges and risks of technology innovation, AI will also have a significant impact on improving the human condition in the years ahead.
For some women, the struggle to find adaptive products and services has been a lifetime challenge. Other of us have only become more aware of this need after long- or short- term disability has suddenly impacted our lives.
FromAtoSHE® and Every Ability
Considering the fluidity of human experience, why should any of us compromise on the clothes we need, the household items we like, or the cosmetics and skincare that bring us joy?
With FromAtoSHE® I strive to cover all that is new and exciting in adaptive and universal design, as well as, share ways that technology can improve all of our lives (while still advocating for data privacy and cybersecurity — issues which can disproportionately affect those with disabilities).
I hope that my experience with online shopping combined with my expertise in technology, and finally, my own personal experiences can make this a useful and fun read for anyone looking for adaptive products, universal design innovation, and stories of women overcoming challenges.
I hope you'll subscribe, share, and connect. If you are interested in the way artificial intelligence will impact your kids and family today, and in the future, please also consider subscribing to AI for Families.
